The Point
Autumn began but no one has noticed. The nights are cooling off like I used to experience them as a kid in July up north. The days are still like warm July days in northern New England; without that horrible humidity. In other words, it is great to be outdoors! Inside here and inside many of your homes it sometimes has not been as pleasant this month. With the passing of Clyde Seaman, more than the past full month of Warren Lindquist being at Hartford Hospital on life support and many of you with the early colds and more, you likely are praying for life to go a little easier. For all of you, please remember; you are in our prayers. The kids are back at Sunday School. The committees are working to get done what did not happen during summer vacations. It is a busy church. The choir is back with us at worship each week. They do find it hard to wear robes with temperatures still a bit too high for that extra warmth. Meetings of all kinds tend to take their toll on my evenings. As many of you know, I am an early riser with the little ones never sleeping past 6 a.m. In order to get a jump on the day, I am usually in the quiet of my study by 5:30. If I yawn in a meeting after 8 p.m., that is why. Upon returning home there are usually messages that need answering so calls are made well into the night and e-mail and letters after that. We miss you in church when you are not there. It is not that we take attendance, per se, but “your pew” is empty and we know it is you who are not with us. I am planning a Bible Study of “the things you want to know about the Bible but were afraid to ask.” Simple, basic, as the seminary refers to it as “Baby Bible” a beginners study of how and why and where-do-I-find sort of things. If you are interested, we need to establish a day of the week and time of the day. Let me know your interest and your schedule. Communication is vital to ministry. If you have a need, I need to know. Call anytime. If your need is not met, call again. You have a pastor (me) and are assigned a deacon. We both want to help when you need us. If we don’t know it is difficult. Sometimes, we need reminding.
Blessings, Rev. Lou
